Horseback Riding: A number of outfitters offer horseback riding. You may drive
anywhere from 2 to 30 minutes.
Chuck Wagon
Suppers/ Stagecoach/ Wagon Rides: Pagosa Springs has its own chuck wagon suppers offered by
a local outfitter within a 30 minute drive of Hart's Rocky Mountain
Retreat. Other outfitters in Durango, a 60 minute drive, also
offer chuck wagon dinners.
Cultural/Historical Sites: Archuleta County also offers Chimney Rock, a San Juan National Forest
Archeological Area, which is a 30 minute drive. And for even
more archeological exploration, visit Mesa Verde National Park near
Cortez, Colorado, a 90 minute drive.
Train Rides: Historic train rides are
available in Durango on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad
and in Chama, New Mexico on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad.
Both are within a 60 mile drive of Hart's Rocky Mountain Retreat.
Casino Gambling: For those of you who like the gambling atmosphere, there are two
casinos within a reasonable driving distance.
Museums and/or Geological Sites: Southwest Colorado offers a number of museums and geologic
sites. Pagosa Springs hosts 2 museums in a 5 or 10 minute drive.
