Suppers: Pagosa Springs has its own chuck wagon suppers offered by
a local outfitter within a 30 minute drive of Hart's Rocky Mountain
Retreat. Other outfitters in Durango, a 60 minute drive, also
offer chuck wagon dinners.
Stagecoach/Wagon Rides:
In addition to the chuck wagon suppers, the local outfitter also
offers stagecoach and wagon rides.
Casino Gambling:
For those of you who like the gambling atmosphere, there are two
casinos within a reasonable driving distance.
Horseback Riding:
A number of outfitters offer horseback riding. You may drive
anywhere from 2 to 30 minutes.
Train Rides:
Historic train rides are
available in Durango on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad
and in Chama, New Mexico on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad.
Both are within a 60 mile drive of Hart's Rocky Mountain Retreat.
Museums and/or Tours
of Historic, Geological Sites:
Southwest Colorado offers a number of museums and historic, geologic
sites. Pagosa Springs hosts 2 museums in a 5 or 10 minute drive.
Archuleta County also offers Chimney Rock, a San Juan National Forest
Archeological Area, which is a 30 minute drive. And for even
more archeological exploration, visit Mesa Verde National Park near
Cortez, Colorado. The drive is about 90 minutes from Hart's
Rocky Mountain Retreat. |
